FAKE Lamat Rifle saber
This saber showed on Ebay last year and the person who purchased it sent it to me to examine. Initially, the etching gets you excited, but as you look at it, it just does not seem correct. The details were not all there and it was to good to be true. The blade is etched to Lt Col Lamar of the Lamar Rifles. If rear, it would be a higher quality saber, not a foreign import. I had several other people look at it, and upon magnification you can see original "US" style etching under the Confederate script.
This is a well done fake! Look at the design at the base of the blade, it has shown up on other fakes including another fake Ebay item
